Description
WINEMAKER NOTES:
In the mountains above St. Helena, in the rugged Spring Mountain AVA, Terra Valentine was born from its owners’ determination to capture the subtleties of its terroir in an exceptional portfolio of wines.
The nuances of Spring Mountain district terroir rely on its uniquely diverse topography, climate, and collection of soils. Terra Valentine draws its grapes from the terrain of its two estate vineyards that capture the best of Spring Mountain District winegrowing: Wurtele Vineyard and Yverdon Vineyard. Each vineyard possesses a unique set of soils, exposures, and microclimates, producing wines of distinction and personality. Tending to mountain grapes is not an easy task, but it is definitely worth it. The resulting wines are intense in color, aroma, and flavor. They’re balanced, yet elegant.
TASTING NOTES:
Black currant, crème de cassis, black licorice and purple plum aromas with a touch of tar, pepperwood, and leatherlayered with caramel, baking spices, and cocoa. The brambly wild berry fruit on the palate is structured and compact on the forward palate and leads into layers of complex spices and dried sage. The earthly black fruit is mingled with cocoa powder on the finish. Drink now with decanting. Will benefit from 5-10 years in the cellar.
