Description
From the winery: Established in 1985 by legendary vintners Dan and Margaret Duckhorn, our roots run deep at Decoy. Building on our rich winemaking heritage, we invite you to experience Decoy Limited.
Winemaker Notes: Effortlessly refined, this vintage of Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon charms with aromas of blackcurrant, plum and blackberry. Take a sip and find a smooth interlude of flavors. It is delightfully balanced in tannins and brisk acidity, perfect for any occasion that calls for a little something special.
Production: The 2022 Alexander Valley growing season was similar to 2021, with limited rainfall and warm daytime temperatures throughout summer. Cool nights allowed our Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc to retain ideal acidity, while developing vibrant tropical and citrus flavors. Our reds produced average-sized crops, leading to happy, balanced vines. Near Labor Day, we had four very hot days, which led to three busy weeks of picking. With rain in the forecast as we approached October, we made a final push to complete harvest. The overall quality of the 2022 harvest was very high, with our whites showing beautiful brightness and energetic citrus and stone fruit flavors, and our reds offering inky colors, concentrated dark berry flavors, and round, silky tannins.
Varietal: 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot
AVA: Alexander Valley
