Description
The Val du Charron Estate dates back to end of the 17th century. Val du Charron, which means “Valley of the Wagon Maker,” was actually the original name of what eventually would become the town of Wellington. The winery is located in the heart of South Africa’s Western Cape Winelands and is less than an hour northeast of Cape Town. It covers more than 100 picturesque acres, overlooks the Bovlei Valley and also affords spectacular views of the majestic Hawequa Mountains to the east.
WINEMAKER NOTES:
Aphaea was the Greek goddess of cuttings and young shoots. She represented new life and growth. The label was created in the shape of a tree of life and is based on the stained glass on the farm, which consists of more than 1,000 pieces of glass and 42 meters of lead. It reflects the efforts made by the owners for the benefit of future generations that will take over over time. The wines are very fruity and lively in taste. A real celebration of life.
TASTING NOTES:
An intensely dark ruby red blend of the finest in reserve grapes, offering a smooth, rich taste profile that features ripe, dense blackberry, with notes of chocolate and rich raspberry and a hint of wild strawberry, for a lush and juicy palate experience. A creamy molten blueberry provides a splendid, lingering aroma, for a harmonious finish.
