From the winery: The first element was harvested on September 28th with 12 separate harvests completed over 27 days. At the heart of this wine is some of our finest Oakville fruit, offering rich texture and bright fruit flavors. Another important element is the Clone 6 Calistoga Cabernet grown at the northern end of the valley, offering a counterpoint of more savory, earthy flavors. Fruit from ten different vineyard sites contributed to this blend resulting in a complex wine with layered flavors. The wine spent 20 months in barrel gently evolving and softening before being bottled. -Jim Close, Winemaker
Tasting Notes: This wine boasts aromas of black raspberry, ripe strawberry and cassis with complementary hints of cherry pie, graham cracker and espresso beans. The palate mimics savory and complex flavors of brambleberry, blueberry, nutmeg spice and brown sugar. Moderate alcohol, firm acidity and velvety tannins help to frame a delicious, flavor-packed finish. Beautiful in its youth, this wine can easily be enjoyed now or in the next 5-8 years.
